There is a real problem with bicyles around the Dutch stations. There is not enough space in the parkings inside (guarded) and outside the station (unguarded). This is a daily nuisance for the commuter. The unguarded parkings are susceptible to vandalism and theft, while the guarded parkings are expensive. It is also difficult to find a free space and find your bicycle back when you return.The Trikelet can be taken along easily in the train.

Last mile solution for cars

The Trikelet is also very suited as a last mile solution for the automobile. Parking in the busy urban centres is mostly limited and expensive, parking your car right at your destination is often not possible. Most auto makers have recognised this problem and designed solutions for this, however none of these solutions is as compact and clean as the Trikelet and as easy to handle and ride. It is also very handy for electric car users, to and fro the charging point.

Shopping around town

Shopping centers in The Netherlands have also problems with parked bicycles. These centers try to manage the influx by organising parking spaces and by removing bicycles which are parked outside the designated areas. The Trikelet can be used as a shopping Trolley (by placing a shopping bag on to the Trikelet trolley). As an alternative; Trikelet drop off places can be organised. Around ten Trikelets fit in one cubic meter op space (35 cubic feet).

No bicycle shed necessary

Many people living in urban areas do not have a bicycle shed. Their bicycles are parked outside, where they are susceptible to the weather, vandalism and theft. The Trikelet can be taken inside, while it is clean and compact. Four Trikelets fit in a cupboard with a floor space of only 70x40 cm and a height of about 150 cm. So a family of four can park all their urban transport needs on such a small floor area! In this cupboard the Trikelets can also be charged.

Solution in big cities like Paris

Ofcourse Trikelet can also be the solution for urban areas outside the Netherlands. In cities like London, New York or Paris (picture), the municipal government is building bicycle lanes to accomodate bicycle travel. However not much people will have a bicycle shed, so they will have to park their bicycles in their apartments. The Trikelet is a better solution while it can be taken inside, since it takes hardly any space and it is clean.

In the Netherlands cycling is a means of transport, but in almost any other country, it is a form of work out. Sweating is not seen as compatible with the modern business environment. The Trikelet takes you to your work without sweat, even if it is hot outside or the road is steep*. Your cloths stay clean and tidy. A raincoat is also much more effective when you are standing upright on the Trikelet than at cycling.
* For very steep slopes, we will have to fit gear changing to the Trikelet.

Internal transportation

The Trikelet can also be very useful for internal transportation, for example at airports, business centers or industrial areas. The Trikelet can be ridden by airline personnel and can be left at the gate. Ariving personnel can take the Trikelets and ride to the airport exit. The luggage of the personnel can be placed in the Trikelet. Trikelets could give an efficiency gain at the large hub type airports. The Trikelets take very little space at the gate (around ten Trikelets fit in one cubic meter of space - 35 cubic feet). This 3D rendering gives an impression.

Last mile for caravans or yachts

The recreational sector is also a potential market for the Trikelet. Owners of yachts and recreational vehicles have the same last mile problems as the automobile in the inner cities. Mostly bikes or folding bikes are being used as last mile solution. The Trikelet is however more compact, more comfortable and clean. In hot and hilly places it can bring you comfortably from the camping site to the local shop. The Trikelets can be taken inside the vehicle and no separate bicycle carrier is necessary.
